Job Description
Description The Project Geotechnical Engineer will participate in the analysis, design and construction observation of highway, railroad, water resources and environmental projects throughout the country. The primary duties will be to perform the following tasks: (1) the analysis and design of foundations for highway and railroad bridges; (2) slope stability and settlement of earthen embankments; (3) analysis of retaining walls; (4) stability, seepage and drainage of dams and levees; (5) seismic design of bridge foundations, retaining walls and slope stability/liquefaction; (6) observation of construction activities such as pile driving, drilled shaft construction, and shoring; (7) preparation and technical writing of reports and specifications; (8) preparation of scope and coordination of geotechnical subconsultant’s work for drilling, lab testing and engineering services; and (9) review of subconsultant’s geotechnical reports and recommendations. The work will primarily be in Omaha, but some limited travel is expected. Candidate should have good verbal and writing skills, able to perform field work, if needed, and have a strong computer background. Keywords: 100519, Geotechnical Engineer, Geotechnical EIT Requirements BS in Geotechnical Engineering required; Masters Degree in Geotechnical Engineering strongly preferred. 0+ years experience with most aspects of geotechnical engineering projects - from project development and design to construction. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Familiar with geotechnical software and willingness to learn new software and develop spreadsheets.
