Summary
TranSystems Corporation is seeking a highly motivated Bridge Inspector with two (2) or more years experience in the Langhorne, Pennsylvania office. This individual will be expected to apply previous training and experience to the inspection of transportation facilities including but not limited to highways, bridges, railroads and/or airport facilities. Below is a listing of essential duties and responsibilities. Please note that other duties may also be assigned from time to time. The following list is only a sample of job activities that may be expected:

1. Assist others as well as work independently to analyze reports, maps, surveys, drawings, blueprints, tests, aerial photographs, soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to perform inspection tasks.
2. Solve problems using judgment, and education, but is expected to ask for assistance when needed.
3. Participate in activities such as construction inspection and materials testing, surveying, CADD production, and field data collection.
4. Receive instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.
5. Document inspection findings to effectively communicate information.
6. Use computer technology to perform inspections and prepare detailed reports.
7. Ability to create and maintain project records and maintain project file database.
8. Research code and specification requirements.
9. Assist in the preparation of technical proposals, reports and permits required for projects.
10. Maintain product and company reputation by complying with federal, state and local regulations.
11. Keep Project Manager informed of workload and any potential changes in project schedule or scope.
12. Maintain neat and organized work area allowing others efficient access to project information.
13. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
This position requires the following: NBIS certification and/or PENNDOT CBSI certification. TranSystems may sponsor qualified candidates for PennDOT CBSI training. Microstation Inroads, AutoCAD and Civil 3D proficiency is desired. Knowledge of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation design standards and bridge load rating software is a plus. B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering and/or EIT/FE is also a plus.

Language Skills:
Candidates must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as design manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and safety regulations. They must also have the ability to develop written reports and correspondence. Individuals will be given the opportunity to develop their ability to speak effectively before small groups of clients and/or employees concerning project aspects. Excellent written and verbal communication is a must.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. The candidate must have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The candidate must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
NBIS certification and/or PENNDOT CBSI certification. EIT /FE certification it not required, but the path to professional licensure is encouraged and is a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hand and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keyboard. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and drive a vehicle. The employee will be frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, construction and field assignments can be severe (i.e. Airport noise, inside factories, construction equipment, jack hammers, etc).
