As a leading national transportation firm that ranks 60th in the recent ENR Top 500 and 12th on the ENR Top 25 Bridge List, we seek a Lead Bridge Engineer for our expanding East Lansing, Michigan office. The position carries a compensation package of salary, bonus, and benefits, as well as ownership potential. We require a highly qualified and motivated professional with bridge design and inspection experience on Michigan Department of Transportation and local agency projects. The Candidate must possess a Michigan P.E. license, a minimum 15 years of bridge design experience, and established relationships with clients. The Candidate must have a thorough understanding and knowledge of the Architecture and Engineering industry including the Federal, State, and local codes and regulations that pertain to the industry, notably AASHTO LRFD Bridge design. A Master of Science degree, National Highway Institute accreditation in inspection of In-Service Bridges, railroad bridge design experience, and licensure in adjacent states are desirable. The Candidate must demonstrate significant analysis and design experience on bridges including structural modeling, design, and retrofit and complex structural design and detailing, and will be expected to manage and participate on project teams led by others to prepare and deliver plans, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates to the satisfaction of the client and in accordance with accepted industry and company standards. In addition, the Candidate must possess the ability to effectively manage schedules and project budgets and perform QC reviews on projects. Familiarity with structural engineering design software and a working knowledge of Microstation are expected. The Candidate should be aware that TranSystems places considerable emphasis on client and staff communications and relationships, and this will be a major factor in applicant evaluations. The Candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills; must be a proactive communicator; and must interact well with other employees throughout the company, subconsultants, clients, and contractors. The Candidate will be responsible for maintaining client satisfaction and building client relationships. The Candidate will be expected to participate in the identification and pursuit of structural engineering projects, provide the technical and marketing experience to assist in winning these projects, and occasionally attend and make technical presentations at seminars and conferences.
