PRINCIPAL PERMWAY DESIGN ENGINEER

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in the identification and provision of technical training when required
- Maintain an oversight of track design and track structure technical document control and ensure that the relevant business QA procedures are followed.
- Provide technical advice/Project engineering input into track design and track alignment projects
- Provide principal level design advice for Queensland Rail/QR National track design work
- Mentorship to other permanent way engineers and designers
- Manage the day to day utilisation of the Queensland-based track resource
- Assist with the project management of permanent way projects
- Strategic development of the PB permanent way team in Brisbane

Technical Skills:

- 15+ years in the industry.
- Currently active in track design or delivery, with at least 10 years design experience

Must have Principles Level experience in:

- Track alignment concept development
- Track reference design development
- Checking and verification/signoff approval for permanent way design
- Management of a permanent way design team

Should have:

- At least 5yrs working within an operating railway organisation
- Project experience that includes major scheme cost estimation
- Recent experience in a consulting or contracting organisation
- Experience in the development and/or application of specific solutions to permanent way problems
- Expert status in one or more specific technologies or track design applications

Qualifications

Must have:

- A recognised tertiary level qualification in engineering
- Membership, or eligibility for membership of IAustE or ICE
- RPEQ or eligibility for registration as RPEQ

- Ability to balance quality and timely delivery in all aspects of work
