PRINCIPAL SIGNALLING ENGINEER

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in the identification and provision of technical training when required
- Provide technical input for Business Unit documents, including proposals, project reports, studies and internal procedures
- Maintain an oversight of signalling technical document control and ensure that the relevant business QA procedures are followed
- Provide technical advice/Project engineering input into signalling projects
- Provide principal level design resource capability for QueenslandRail/QR National signalling work
- Mentorship to other signal engineers and signal designers
- Manage the day to day utilisation of the Queensland signalling resource
- Assist with the project management of signalling projects
- Strategic development of the PB signalling team in Brisbane

Technical Skills:

- 15+ years in the industry.
- Currently active in signalling design, with at least 10 years design experience

Must have Principles Level experience in:

- Signalling scheme development
- Design, checking and verification/signoff approval of relay interlocking circuits
- Design, checking and verification/signoff approval of either Westlock or Microlok circuits
- Design and detailed checking of control tables
- Management of a design team

Should have:

- At least 5yrs working within an operating railway organisation
- Recent experience in a consulting or contracting organisation
- Microlok and/or Westlock data checking experience
- Project experience that includes major signalling scheme cost estimation
- Experience in the development and/or application of ATP and in-cab signalling
- Expert status in one or more specific technologies or signalling applications

Qualifications:

Must have:

- IRSE License as a Principal Designer or equivalent, capable of undertaking detailed design reviews and verifications
- A recognised tertiary level qualification in engineering
- Membership, or eligibility for membership of IAustE or IRSE
- RPEQ or eligibility for registration as RPEQ

- Have an excellent command of English, demonstrated by well-developed oral and written communications skills
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency towards the performance outcomes of the role
- Ability to balance quality and timely delivery in all aspects of work
