Job Description
Description This organisation is a multinational leader in delivering state of the art railway control and communication solutions. They are looking to recruit an experienced Project Engineer to join an existing team delivering a signalling project in Melbourne, Australia. The Project Engineer will support the Project Manager and provide a key interface between engineering, manufacturing and supply and site construction activities. This is a team position that is focused on ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and in accordance with the client’s specifications. This role will require a mix of office and site based activities.
Key duties:
* Assist the Project Manager to liaise with the Marketing and Sales department to ensure accurate tenders are submitted.
* Assist the Project Manager to implement and manage project control plans and procedures. Provide project status reports as required.
* Support the Project Manager to liaise with the appropriate design resources to ensure design provided conforms to the client’s specification.
* Liaise with Project Engineers to ensure supplier’s product conforms to the client’s specification requirements and is delivered in a timely manner and provided at minimum cost.
* Assist the Project Manager to ensure installation and testing procedures for product and systems conform to the client’s requirements. Provide support to ensure the product and system is tested and installed accurately in line with project requirements.
* Liaise with clients and staff to ensure the commissioning procedures for product and system conform to the client’s requirements and is commissioned to meet project timescales and commissioned at minimum cost.
* Liaise with the Project Manager to ensure that the project is delivered in accordance with contract terms and conditions. Liaise with the contract specialist staff to highlight contract issues and develop an appropriate action plan for prompt resolution.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills / experience:
* Direct involvement in the successful delivery of medium / large scale railway signalling projects.
* A sound knowledge of project management fundamentals, including; planning, scope management, quality assurance, budget control & reporting.
* Experience in managing project material requirements and procurement.
* A strong technical background with trade or engineering qualifications.
* The ability to work unsupervised.
* Meticulous, good attention to detail.
* Be a keen team contributor and an effective communicator.
* Highly organised.
* Flexible and results focused.
* Good communication skills – able to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders both internally and externally.
* Innovative and champion new tools, methods and processes for best practice project delivery.
* The salary will be paid in Australian dollars - 90,000 - 105,000
